Phoenix, Ariz. - February 7, 2013 - Fairytale Brownies recently
donated $5,000 to the national non profit KaBOOM! as part of its commitment to save play in America.
Co-founders Eileen Spitalny and David Kravetz believe that play is an important part of a child's physical and mental growth. "Unstructured play allows children to develop creativity, dexterity, and emotional
strength," Spitalny said. "David and I met on the kindergarten playground."
For the past couple of years, the gourmet brownie company has challenged its customers to help save play by adding $1 or more to their online gift orders at checkout at brownies.com. Fairytale Brownies matches every
customer dollar donated up to $5,000.
Since 2001, Fairytale Brownies and its customers have contributed more than $100,000, along with donations of brownies, cookies and time, to support KaBOOM!'s efforts.
KaBOOM!'s community-build model is simple and makes a lasting difference by bringing a diverse group of volunteers together with the goal of building and completing a playground in one day. Fairytale team members
have volunteered at a number of playground builds in Arizona and around the country. In 2001, Fairytale funded and built a playground in Tempe, Ariz., for a charter school for the homeless and disadvantaged.
